Deafblind sportsman from Russia won a championship in checkers

From August 24 to September 3, Bulgaria hosted the 2nd championship of the hundred-celled checkers among athletes with disabilities, in which the deafblind family from Kursk, Denis Maleev and Irina Barbashova, took part.
The contention in such competitions is very strong. Onle the masters and candidates for master of sports are taking part in the competitions. Denis and Irina trained for several hours a day.
Two gold medals, Denis won, became the result of such persistent training. First medal - in the individual championship in the blitz tournament, the second - in the team standings.

For Denis Maleev checkers are not just a favorite sport. Hobby played an important role in his life - playing checkers he met his future wife. The expression "to live hand in hand" is about them. The spouses communicate with the help of a special tactile alphabet.
